Sony PDX10 Mono-Only Capture

I read on Sony's Vegas Hardware compatibility list that the PDX10 will only deliver mono audio even if both XLR channels have different inputs.

As a test I plugged an ECM MS5 stereo mic (that has two XLR outs and requires 48 volt phantom power) and heard stereo in the headphones and saw it on the meters.

Sure enough, when I captured it into a Vegas 5.0b timeline via Video Capture 5.0b the stereo tracks came is as a single mono signal.

Looking around the forum I found that ScenalyzerLive from Austria can be substituted for Video Capture and will bring in the stereo tracks on a PDX10, along with other features that outshine Video Capture.

Another post said that Ulead VideoStudio 7's capture utility will bring in the stereo--although a bit clunkily.

Aside from these two solutions, does anyone know of better ones?

More importantly, why would Sony not fully support one of its own DVCAM cameras?

If two other apps can bring in the stereo tracks, why can't Video Capture?

Perhaps an even more pressing question is what the heck have Sony done on the PDX10 to cause this problem in the first place. As far as I know the DV25 spec only allows for either a 16/48K stereo pair or 4 channels at 12/32K. Vegas can only capture 2 channels of the later at a time, SCLive can do both but I've never heard of a way that'd give a mono only capture.

Pinnacle Systems DVTools will capture both audio tracks from the PDX10 (mine's PALl version) without any problem. The only draw back is DVTools doesn't appear to be available anymore from Pinnacle.
I got it bundled in with their DV500Plus Package a while ago now.
I find it strange that it has vanished as it has a pretty good Tape/clip cataloging facility.
(BTW Adobe Premiere 6.5 WON'T capture both channels it only captues channel 1)
