....whilst I can't help on the ability of the burner I would say the pricing seems high. Surely you could pick the combo up for less than that ?

I say an add in DV magazine at bhphotovideo (www.bhphotovideo.com) or another place (i'll look it up at work today) for the same bundle but with a panasonic burner for $599-699.

I wonder why Sony can't have Vegas/Acid/Sound Forge sales cheaper then what they sell it for: retailers have those products for a lot cheaper!

This is about 200 bucks above street price--not a good deal.

the panasonic bundle or the sony bundle? I assume you're talking about the sony deal.

I know that Best Buy or Circut City - one of those places - has a multi format (DVD +/- R / DVD RW +/- / CD RW) DVD burner on sale until 12 noon on 'Black Friday' for like $49.99. I guess sometimes is pays to be up and in a line at 2 AM waiting for a store to open at 6 AM.

I would not expect any Sony direct deal to EVER be as good as an outside deal at its best. After all, Sony will not undercut its distributors and retailers, or they will have a real problem on their hands.

I've seen the Sony burner going for under $150 last couple of weeks.

I still prefer the Pioneer A-06.

I'm ready to order the Sony DRX-510UL from Newegg ($240) as soon as it gets off backorder.
baysidebas - Are you sure you're not talking about the DRU-510A which is the internal version of this drive? If not, please tell me where you saw it going for under $150.
I wish Sony would target their promotions better. Why would I be interested in this offer since I already own Vegas_DVD (and the Vegas 4 Editing Workshop)? Make me an offer on the Vision Series Libraries and then maybe we can talk.

Otherwise, I couldn't find anything like your $49.99 deal at techbargains.com.
