SONY's software keeps impressing me...

I now work on XP64 bit with 4GB RAM and needless to say, I'm a happy man...

I was working on my freediving short since upgrading to XP64 and wanted to render out to DVD direct from the timeline in PPro 1.5 - oops - no go - Doesn't see my DVD burner.. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!!!

I open Vegas 6 and DVDA3 and both see my burner.. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!!!

The ONLY reason I am using PPro is because of the SteadyMove plugin and so I had to take time out of my editing session, render out the timeline to AVI and then open DVDA3 and burn to DVD - there were no hiccups with either SONY product. That is a huge thing in my opinion!

I have the full production suite from ADOBE and now I am rethinking my workflow setup - I like to keep things as simple as possible - I like to adhere to the KISS principle - and now SONY has made it even more a reason to standardize on their products. Between that and the atmosphere of the Vegas Forums, I am even more compelled to promote and recommend SONY's products to anyone who asks me on my site UWDV.COM.

Just wanted to say thanks to all who have been willing to help this n00b.. :-)

I think Gunnar Thalin's DeShaker 2.0 might outdo SteadyMove, but I'm not certain. It certainly outdoes Dynapel's SteadyHand. You could use Satish's plugin to write a proxy file and use DeShaker with Vegas instead of going to PPro.

I mean, I'm just sayin' ... :)

That's a good thing to know Jim.. That is the only thing that has kept me from committing to Vegas completely...Where can I find it? Guess I'll give google a sot and see what I come up with...

Here is where you get deshaker:

Here is some great info on using it:

In my opinion it beats steadyhand by a fair margin.

Ok, so VirtualDub comes in two flavors - 32 or 64 bit. According to Deshakers install info, It is to be installed in the plugins folder - the 64 bit version of VDub doesn't have that - Anyone have experience using Vdub on 64bit XP Pro? Should I use the native 64 bit version or will the 32 bit version work?

Feels like I am soooo close....

Deshaker only works with 32 bit VDub.

I just discovered that.. one of the only times I have gotten a BSOD... So it appears to be a mishmash - and I need to learn to hand hold my camera in a housing even more so now..

I would have though the shakes weren't a big problem underwater, perhaps adding some paddles or fins to the housing would help keep it steadier?
They could be quite small but on the end of stalks to increase the torque, making it harder to turn / wobble the camera.

This sounds like a job for a dual boot system with XP64 and XP32. You'd have .veg portability and the media could go between boot "sides". Given the price you pay for Gunnar's filter and vdub, it seems reasonable even if you don't currently own a license for XP32.

Sent an email to Gunnar last night with a request for a 64bit version of Deshaker - Here's his response:

Since I don't have 64 bits myself, making a 64 bit version never occured to me.

Well, Deshaker64 thoroughly crashes vDub and throws a huge error report. Have sent it off to both developers for their analysis, but I think it is a lost cause on x64...
