not Vegas, but VideoFactory... Cunning name change huh? substitute 'ScreenBlast' for 'Sonic Foundry', and there's Acid, SoundForge, Siren, etc. etc..

That's pretty much common knowledge now. I think all companies are a bad quarter or two away from "financial difficulty," or a successful deal or two away from financial bliss. You never know. SF may emerge from all of this stronger and better than ever. I've actually read some people say, "I'm not buying VV3 because SF is in trouble," and I just say, oh well, hope you feel like some sort of wise guru because you sure are missing out on a great NLE.

Yeah, I think that Sonic licenses FActory to a bunch of people----its good business on their part---

Don't know about you guys, but I'm doing my part. Already ordered 2 copies of VV to give as Christmas presents to niece and nephew (two different sisters).

That should give it plenty of local High School exposure. They are constantly videoing everything that moves, and I have edited a few things for them. Now, they can do it themselves. The saving in my time alone should pay for the copies.

I've persuaded my father-in-law to get Video Factory. Trouble is, he doesn't read English very well. There is a language barrier to the international distribution (and acceptance) of SF products - at least the entry level stuff.

About the Sony deal; from the horse's mouth I have it: No, not selling out. We did this for Sony specifically, just like we wrote Peter Haller on another Forum.

Don't forget Nova Video Explosion Deluxe too. Take the Tour. It'll look familiar. It seems to be VF, without MainConcept, but with mucho content CDs and MyDVD thrown in. The only thing I'm not sure about is if it includes chromakey. Anyone know if it does?

Neither VideoFactory 2 nor Video Explosion Deluxe include Chroma Keying.

It includes some sort of Chroma Keying. These are the first 3 features listed in their website:

Screenblast® Video Factory™ Deluxe

• Digitize video straight from your camera
• Comes with Screenblast® Video Capture
• Chroma Keyer Plug-in for transparency effects

I think that VF is OK. I even bought a copy thinking that my kids would use it on my computer because I figured Vegas would be too difficult for them to learn. They tried VF, sure enough, but then discovered VV and now refuse to use VF at all. They say that they can't "do what we want to do". I'm not sure what that means, but the testimony is that VV was certainly easy enough for them to figure out without much help from me. There may be a market for the low end stuf somewhere, but not at our house.

Perhaps Video Explosion Deluxe has Chroma keying then. I don't have it installed on my home machine, so I can't check right now. If we don't have a more definitive answer before Thursday, I'll post something then.

Sorry, I didn't notice that you posted the ScreenBlast feature list. That makes more sense to me. So, ScreenBlast VideoFactory has Chroma Keying. Sonic Foundry VideoFactory and Video Explosion Deluxe do not.
