I'd personally say VASST. It's training done by guys who make a living editing. Sony's stuff isn't terrible but it could be much better. (I haven't seen the Vegas 8 stuff but earlier stuff was pretty bland, sorry Sony)

Spot's new Vegas 8 book is a great help too. Some prefer book training over video training. Either is guaranteed to step you up.

I bought the VASST Training DVDs and found them invaluable. They enhanced my knowledge considerably and clarified a large number of the issues I was grappling with. Being able to watch experts at work and listen to their explanations made life so much easier. I can thoroughly reccommend them.

The VASST DVDs are absolutely the correct choice. They are well worth the investment, and are a fabulous learning tool.

Of all the money I have spent on equipment and software, these DVDs have returned the most value to me without any question.

the vasst dvd's are great...gary kleiner's vegas dvd's are pretty good...spot's book is great always good to have around though i am only about 60 pages into the new one and it could have used some proofreading...i.e. didn't the F leave Track Motion back in vegas 3 or 4 ?

Probably. Not every screenshot was redone for each new version. One thing you will see is an online errata sometime post-NAB.

Vasst's DVDs are great ... Gary's are very very good too.. the sony ones, I also bought and I cannot recommend them at all. (Sony: for good examples, see Douglas' and Gary's DVDs, and also the lynda.com and totaltraining.com tutorials, they're very good).

Both Douglas' http://www.vasst.com and Gary's http://vegastrainingandtools.com
DVDs are well worth getting.
