Sony soft not detecting new LG blu-ray burner

Hi;

After using and enjoying Vegas Pro 9 and DVD Architect 5.0 for many months, I bought an LG blu-ray burner model BH10LS30. It is detected and works OK with all other programs except Sony Vegas Pro and DVD Architect. Naturally, LG tech Support said the problem is Sony. My Sony programs still work fine with my DVD RW/Drive (an Optiarc, but when I try to select the new LG drive, it does not appear in the drop-down list of target drives; all I see is the DVD RW drive.

My Computer is a Dell T3400. It has an NVIDIA Quadro FX570 graphics system. I'm downloading the latest drivers just in case, but it is hard to imagine why the graphics system would interfere only with Sony Vegas, but not with UltraIso, Roxio, or Cyberlink. I'm very nervous about upgrading the video drivers, because my system is very stable and a broken video driver can be a BIG problem.

The LG tech suggested I re-install Sony Vegas and DVD Architect.

Not sure what to do...

help!

Thanks,

Steve

Try this:

Physically disconnect your Opticarc drive from your system by unplugging its power cable. Then see if DVDAS will recognize your LG drive. It should. Then power off and reconnect the Opticarc. Hopefully you will be good to go after that.

Interesting suggestion... please stand by, will try this tomorrow. (getting the guts of my computer is non-trivial due to the physical location, furniture, etc.)

Thanks,

Steve

Might indeed be worth trying, expecially when it's hard to get at the cables.
