Sony Tech support via Sony forum- Impossible?

I have been troubleshooting a problem with Sony Vegas and Sony Cybershot 12.1 for a few months now.

The person who has been kind enough to offer suggestions now informs me that he has no affiliation with Sony.

Where would I go to get help from Sony?

I guess I made an assumption.

I tried calling and speaking to Sony tech support, and the lady was less than helpful.

Now, I am resorting to contacting other video forums (including the pointers other customers have provided). I'm just disappointed that Sony would place such a low priority on assisting Sony customers.

One possible (progressive) approach might be to have tech support experts monitor Sony forums. That's not the case here! Or if it is, maybe they could type back some responses 'n stuff like that.

Yes, I agree and have noticed that the mediators and representation from Sony is ominously lacking here and in the Pro forum. This is the ONLY forum that I'm a member of that there is practically NO participation from the host.

But, If you have an issue the forum members here try to do our best to assist. Use the search and if you cant find a reasonable solution, provide detailed description of the discrepancy or problem and post it here.

I've corresponded w/ Sony tech support many times though they may take anywhere from 1 to
a few days to respond I usually get "something" back. Sometimes addressing the issue, sometimes acknowledging an issue, sometimes providing a work around.

I have not tried to edit mp4 but I may have a need to someday and this topic has made me curious. So I did a little googleing. Seems this quote keeps coming up: "Sony Vegas is a great avi or dv, hdv, avchd editor. It is not really made to edit MP4 video type . You need to change mp4 to avi first if you want to edit them in Sony Vegas."
