Sony USB Memory Card Reader

My Sony VX2000 camera can capture images on a Magicgate memory stick. The USB Card that came with it is recognized by XP but it asked for software (I think it needs a driver). I searched Google for 3 hours and found others with same problem but no solutions.

1. Is there a way to fix this?
2. Is there a way to capture the images from the camera directly to Vegas?

Thank you,
Randini

1) There's plenty of other cheap USB card readers around that just seem to work although there could be something oddball about the MagicGate memory sticks that does require special drivers. We've not had any problems reading memory sticks in many different devices however I'm pretty certain we've kept away from the MagicGate variant.
2) I don't think so. You cannot access the card in the camera over firewire, only USB.

ps. Buy yourself a cheap digital camera.

Thank you for your response.
I actually just bought a 51 and 1 card reader and this solved my problem. I have to use my VX2000 camera for I love its stand for shooting animations.
