Sony Vegas 12 MainConcept Renders Pixelated

Not sure why but when ever I render using main concept Web HD 720p template my videos that render out tend to have some blocky & pixelation. The source footage I'm using is the same as always from Fraps.

However I can use the same settings in Vegas Pro 11 with the same footage and the renders come out fine. Even the source footage is okay as well no issues there.

GPU is GTX 680 using latest drivers as of the time of this posting.
GPU temps never go above 42c & CPU never goes above 70c.

Does not matter if I enable or disable gpu acceleration the end result is the same. Now I've always used these same settings aside from sony avc but the whole reason I upgraded to 12 was to use main concept with gpu acceleration.

I've seen this as well in V12. For no apparent reason, the video goes extremely pixelated, and then clears up. I fear this is a bug in the MainConcept encoder.

The only way I've been able to get around this bug, is by performing a 2-pass encode. Unfortunately, this will mean your renders will take twice as long, which defeats the use of your GPU.

hmm, I will need to give that a try as well then to see if it clears up that problem. Hopefully this issues gets cleared up as well. I will report back once I get a chance in the next 24-48 hours to see what happens with it. Thanks for your input.

Yeah the 2 pass does fix it but what a waste of time for sure. but I can confirm what you say as well.

Confirmed same random pixel MP4 render in 12 on a Nvdia 570 card. Back to pro 11 until I see an update.

Yeah I hope they fix this problem quickly but that may not be the case. Thankfully I can still use VP 10 or 11 in the meantime.

Ok after a bit of further testing,. rather then to use VBR I tested out CBR 50mb - 20mb - 14mb comes out fine. 10mb has a slight problem very minor but it's there none the less.

Granted when I used CBR in the past I never did below 16 was usually at 16-20mb for CBR so at least that is working out for me till they fix the other issues it currently has.
