Sony Vegas 7 help

I recently got a new computer with Windows 8 and I can't seem to upload footage from my Sony HDR-FX7 to Vegas 7. It starts to but then it stops and says "Device Error" and I can't seem to do anything after that. Anyone know what the problem is?

If you're trying to capture via firewire, try installing the "Legacy Firewire driver". Just search Google for that.
