Sony Vegas Crashes CONSTANTLY

Hello,

I'm having a serious issue with Sony Vegas. I'm trying to compile a video, with 52 .M2TS files ranging in size from 5 to 40 mb. However, Sony Vegas seems to not be able to handle these files. When I tried importing them, I had to import them in small groups, or Vegas would crash. Two files in particular would cause it to crash without warning just by clicking on them. And now I finally got all the ones that would import into my Project Media, I try to play two seconds into the first video and it crashes.

It also crashes a lot when I try to render. What's the deal?

Here's some technical info:

Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0 (Version 9.0b, Build 92)
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: Intel i7 2.70 GHz
RAM: 4.00 GB

There is indeed some "decent" advice offered in that thread, and if the OP has decided to ignore that advice and create a new thread with the same complaint, I am saddened.

VMS 9 had rather preliminary support for .m2ts AVCHD footage, and downloading and testing the VMS 11 trial would seem a more reasonable approach than clinging to a version that was replaced OVER TWO YEARS AGO.

Just my thoughts, you understand.

Hmmm....I thought this one looked familiar.

I chimed in on that one thinking it could be a 64bit incompatibility with the older program version.
I still use VMS 9.0b but it works for a neophyte wannabe like myself.

Oh...sorry OP if our other suggestions you likely eliminated didn't do the trick.

Looking at the OP's error message in the other thread, it appears there is inadequate hard disk space, or is rendering to an external usb or network drive that can't handle the throughput.

This error rarely has anything to do with Vegas, and is almost always a hardware issue or caused by antivirus software. An error message and a "crash" are not necessarily the same thing.
