Sony Vegas Pro 8a freezes when starting up

Please help. Today for the first time I cannot open Sony Vegas Pro 8. When I want to open it, it stalls / freezes and does not want to open whist it is “initializing audio engine” and does not go any further.

I am using operating system XP Professional

The Sony version I am using is 8a (Build 179)

For further info, I have just purchased the plug-in NewBlue 3D Explosions and Transformations and loaded it. Could this have had an effect on it?

I tried re installing Vegas 8 but without success.

Please help as I have so much editing to do

2 things spring to mind. Firstly, have you got an app open that is using teh audio device you have configured for Vegas? (and had it open before you loaded vegas)

Secondly, you could try a 'cold' Vegas reset. Hold down ctrl+shift and then launch Vegas

I have tried everything to no avail. what is the final thing I can do as I spend a lot on money purchasing Vegas Pro 8. I even instaled version 8b. Please help as the Sony Tech guys are not replying.
