Sony, why can't you do this?

Say we have a clip that is suffering from jitter or and analog clip with poor registration and we put it on a video track with track motion energized (we could call it something else in this case) circle or draw
around an object on the clip on frame #1, then activate the "stabilization render icon" which collects a number sequence of
each X-Y cordinate based on the circled object and records the entire sequence from start to finish, then does a 180 flip of the cordinates and renders each frame x-y cordinate to correct the jitter or in the case
of horizontal panning leave out the horizontal cordinate. Some people have already done this by hand on short clips. Is it possible to do this automatically?

It is possible, yes. Avid Express has (or had) this feature when I was shopping for a NLE a few years ago. Be that as it may, Vegas won!

Motion Tracking is great, but question how easily it can be done WELL. Boris Red does this, as do other higher end tools. But it's not "easy" or everyone would be doing it. Avid for instance, does it but the footage looks like hell. Which is why it's done in Boris when using Avid if it's an important piece of footage.

It's not possible in Vegas. Yet. Please suggest it under the "support" menu in the header on this page.

I emailed Steadymove on the 2d3 site. Begged them to make a plugin for Vegas. Their prompt response was much like pushing me out of a moving car.

I would pay an extra $100, even $200, for a motion stablizer plugin.

I have tried a lot of "o" velocity envelopes on static non panning shots and its so steady it doesn't look right. Dynapel changes the focus too
much even using very small corrections. Some scenes look ok but others are terrible. Just thought if Sony would come out with something as good as the noise reduction pluggin it would be heaven.

One of our national archive bodies has invested in a magic box that would probably handle this easily. It can do things such as remove hair stuck in the gate of film camera, rebuild lost frames and correct jitter. I'm amazed that it seems to be able to do this on faded images because the whole trick with these things is being able to find edges for the motion tracking to work from.
If you're interested look up Snell and Wilcox Archangel Ph C.
But be warned, VERY expensive.
