SONY YUV codec - no codec?

I thought there should be a difference between Sony YUV codec AVI and just uncompressed AVI.

But if I select SOny YUV codec I get a file that appears identical to selecting "uncompressed" AVI. WHy?

Uncompressed AVI = 1 217 024 KB 57 sec to render
Sony YUV codec AVI = 1 217 024 KB 57 sec to render
Sony YUV 10 it codec AVI = 1 622 023 KB 1 min 12 sec to render

Sony YUV and just uncompressed are identical file sizes and behave identical when putting them on the time line.

Explanation?

I have tried both in Pro 8 version 8.0c and in Pro 9 32 bit version. Sony YUV codec doesn't produce anything smaller than "uncompressed" which is what I was expecting.

That's weird... works there but not here...

What are your file sizes uncompressed AVI vs YUV Sony codec AVI? How do these files differ when you yuo analyze them after rendering? What frame size did you test on?

first rendered 720 x 486,,, yuv is smaller as it should be,, just did a hdv file and it again works as expected. running on vegas 9 pro 32bit flavor trial version

1 minute of 16:9 PAL SD:

V8.0b Sony YUV 8 bit = 1.2GB
V8.0b Uncompressed = 2.4GB

V9.0 Sony YUV 8 bit = 1.2GB

Those figures are rounded off. I didn't see much point in testing further, the result are what I expected. Sony YUV was subjectively faster to render too although there's little in it.
