Sorenson Squeeze Impinge on Vegas Main Concept

I made an .avi file in Vegas. Then used Sorenson Media (their latest version of Squeeze) to render the .avi into an MPEG1 file. (Hadn't ever used Sorenson for this)
Next, I used Vegas to render the .avi file into an MPEG1 file.
The Vegas MPEG1 file had greenish flashes in the very beginning and the very end.
Sorenson also uses Main Concept encoders. Could Sorenson have corrupted the Vegas Main Concept encoders? Anyone had this happen? Any clues as to how to get the Vegas Main Concept encoders working properly again?
Thanks for any suggestions.

With mpg1/2 compressed video, the majority of the frames encoded contain partial data rather then the full frame. Any editing software will have to interpret the video, do whatever editing, and re-encode - possible but not recomended by SOFO etc.

Personally I have found it more workable to open the mpg1/2 video in dvd2avi, save the proj. file, open this in vfapi for conversions, open the newly created file in whatever editor. This lessens the work that the editor has to do, I think cuts render times, definitely cuts edit time because of redraw issues, eliminates prob. such as blacked out frames I've seen and heard reported.

RE: the green flashes... Usually hear of this sort with different, yet similar codecs. In your case, mpg1 is a spec, but there are various implementations, ways to get the same result. Without getting over complicated trying to guess on what's actually happening at the code level, the video is encoded with one set of software, then decoded with another in Vegas - the Vegas codec is trying to determine the file contents, and what software filters in windows to use translating the data into pictures... sounds like either something isn't there where it expects it, or it's having problems initially with something like color space conversion. In any case, the dvd2avi -> vfapi route should cure your problems.

I also have a Gainward Ti4600 4X AGP card and I downloaded the latest Nvidia Detonator drivers instead of the Gainward drivers. Would that impact Main Concept encoding?

Ok here's what I found out...I tried to render MPEG1 with Sorenson Squeeze/Media ans it was corrupted. So I re-installed Vegas 4.0c and it encodes MPEG1 just fine. Sorenson Squeeze/Media uses the same Main Concept codec. They must have corrupted each other's MC Codec. I've emailed this info to Sorenson, too.
