SOT: Good looking mics?

Been shooting a panel discussion and although the mics I've used sound fine they're in shot and really look ugly. I'm wondering if anyone's got any experience or recommendations for those very slim gooseneck mics that plug into a special base that has the XLR connection in it?

AT have some nice units in their engineered sound range, like the ES993 but at $1,400 each, a kit of 4 or more of those is a bit over the top for the odd job.

How about disguising and using simple lav mikes.

In reasonable close proximity they'll work great, and they're easy to hide.

I even found a $25 buck desk lamp that looks pretty sexy to attach the mike to:

What do you think?

That could work, I could probably pull the light assembly out and replace it with the mic cartridge. I did find this:

which is kind of what I was after at a more realistic price.

The mics I've always wanted were the ones the BBC started using about 15 years ago, just a long slender tube with a small ball on the end. They look so elegant, probably when I do find who makes them my dream will be shattered by the cost.

Or I could makes something that looks the same...or not :)
