Hi,
Yes - I know, this post basically belongs in the Vista Users forum, but since it seems that all Vista 64 users hang here - I posted this question here:
My virging Vista 64 Ultimate had quite reasonable USB and Firewire throughput. I my tests (using SisoftSandra):
- external USB read speed about 32Mbytes/s
- external Firewire800 throughput about 77Mbytes/s.
Now, months later (with all OS upgrades installed, and also a buch of software), the speed has dropped dramatically (the external drives are the same):
- external USB read speed about 12Mbytes/s
- external Firewire800 throughput about 40Mbytes/s.
In other words, the speed has about halved. My two internal eSata drives are as fast as before (78Mbytes/s). I am running all disks in the speed optimized mode, and all drivers are up to date. No hardware has changed either.
What the h*ck is going on in Vista 64? Is this a known problem? Anyone else experiencing the same? What is the reason for it, and is there a workaround?
It is annoying to transfer video files at such slow speed. How can Vista s**ew up such a basic function as transferring data?
Any good ideas anyone?
Christian
