Do you have to render your video and sound separately to make a dvd. I render my video to mpeg-2 with audio, and my audio needs to be re-rendered in DVDA2. then my sound flikles when playing the DVD. Should I separetly render audio to ac3 and video to mpg-2 in Vegas and why?

1. You have more control over the render settings in Vegas than you do in DVDA.
2. If you render separate files in Vegas, then you do not have to go through the render process all over again everytime you use that video / audio for a new project.
That said, you do not have to have separate files. It's just, in my opinion, better workflow.
