I'm not a Sonic Foundry rep but I would recommend checking out the MOTU 2408. It's about $900. It has 8 analog in & outs (unbalanced -10 db), 3 TDIF connectors (24 in & out) and 3 ADAT type connectors (also 24 in & out.) you can select three banks active at anytime (i.e. you could have 8 analog, 8 DA-88 and 8 Adat, or 16 DA-88 and 8 analog, etc. ) It also has SPdif
and balanced +4 main outs. The main unit is rackmountable and seperate from the computer card.
I was playing with the vegas demo tonight running tracks through my DA-88's into my 32x8 Mackie. I've been looking for the software I'm going to use with my hard drive multi-track (which I've just put to gether the last three months or so) and have been experimenting with demos. With all the others I haven't been able to get past 20 tracks (PII -400) though my computer probably needs some tweaking. Tonight I had Vegas up to 80 tracks and still hadn't maxed out the processor.
