Sound Cards

I am in the market for getting a new sound card for my NLE machine and wanted some opinions. The choice is either between an Audiophile 24/96 or an Echo Mia. I was wondering if these type of "prosumer" (i hate that term) cards would cause any compatibility issues with sonic foundry's suite of products? Do these type of cards use to many CPU cycles and cause a system to slow down rendering times?

thanks.

Both of the cards have their issues, but the Echo MIA is likely to give you more trouible than the Audiophile 2496. You will have to use Windows Media Player to play a CD and you will not be able to play midi files directly through the MidiMan card. It will require a software synthesizer such as the Yamaha XG or an external synthesizer. Once you figure out how all the buses work, the card will function reliably.

lots of people have been discussing audio cards on the Acid Pro forum. I don't know if these suggestions will apply to Vegas but you could do a search there and maybe find some tips...

I have several M-Audio Audiophile 2496 cards. They sound absolutely terrific and have been trouble free. Here is an in-depth review of the Audiophile: iXBT Labs
