Sound editing for video project

Is it possible to use Vegas Video to edit sound only, in sync with video? I want to import the DV project, edit just the audio, then transfer it back to DV. Can I do this without rendering the video, or render without losing quality on the video portion?

Yes it can be done. See Basic and Advanced editing in the Vegas Manual. There is different ways to do it, See which one fits your needs.

If you import DV footage and change only the audio, then render back out to DV, the video will not be recompressed and there will be zero video quality loss.

yes you can just change the audio and not get generation loss in the video when using DV avi. A new DV avi file gets created when you render as, but the video is a pure digital copy with no degradation.
