The Amazon page says it's just for pre-ordering, that it's not been released. Do you have other information that it is shipping? While we're on the subject, do you have recommendations for books on other current Sony/SF products (Acid4, Vegas+DVD 5, CDA)? I've never read any of the books on any versions of these, but am about to delve deeply into these waters, and can use all the help I can get. Right now, I'm still playing with computer configurations.

Softy - do a search on this forum. Spot may or may not be reluctant to answer that question, as he is a driving force of Sundance Media and VASST, dedicated to all things cool and most things SoFo/Sony. Lots of books, dvd's, etc for training. I own their acid and vegas training dvd's and can vouch that they are superb.

Thanks, DMcKnight...Actually, I'm not the driving force of SMG or VASST, just one of a few guys. I'm the guy that sits out front for people to throw stuff at. Most of the credit goes to Mannie and T.J.

Softy, in terms of the Sound Forge book, I assure you it's shipping. I've got a copy next to me right here, and we're the last ones to get them when orders are due. You can get them from cmpbooks.com too.
My Vegas 5 Editing Workshop book isn't far off, and there is a Sams Book (discontinued) on Acid3. We do offer an Acid 4 training DVD, a Sound Forge DVD, and a Vegas 5 DVD, (which is NOT for new users, but rather an updates disc for Vegas 2,3,4 users) We are shortly launching the Vegas Master series, which is many discs dedicated to specific Vegas functions. Discs 1 & 2 start shipping soon, they are introductions to Vegas and DVD Architect. We had thought that we'd have these shipping before the Vegas VASST tour was over, but I ended up doing all those dates and hadn't finished mastering the DVDs. However, they are going to ship on our projected schedule. Discs 3 & 4 deal particularly with Audio and Video, with other series discs related to specifics such as compositing, mastering, plugs, etc. There is also an Advanced DVD Architect disc. Other than the two introductory discs, all of the discs are DVD9, so fairly lengthy in content.
There is also a new Vegas 5 book out called "Naked Vegas" which is interesting in itself. I won't comment on the quality of the book, that's not fair. Suffice it to say that interestingly enough, it is the exact same size as our VASST series books, about the same page count, and uses the same layout to a T. Written by Doug Sahlin, Ed...Same initials even. :-) My only real comment on the Naked book is that no where for instance, does it tell how to do a fade of audio or video. Nor does it mention other basic functions.
Instant Vegas 5, cowritten by Jeffrey P. Fisher and myself, is due later this summer.
Gary Kleiner has a Vegas DVD and Sony has their own workbook available too. I think that covers the printed and video-based resources out there.

Thanks. Being a voracious reader, I will get every book that's even worth a bit of a damn. I might try your DVDs, though I generally prefer books myself. Where's your website or whatever?

The web site is www.VASST.com. I have the Vegas Workshop book and DVD and the ACID for Non-Linear Editors DVD and they are outstanding. I highly recommend them.

You can also get the DVDs from dealers like B&H, Videoguys, etc. The books can be found on Amazon, or in most local Borders, Barnes and Noble, etc.
Videoguys had a deal going with the DVDs, I don't know if it's still happening or not.
