ok ok ok . . I know this is NOT the correct Forum .. but to all of you that haven't got/used SF yet GET IT!! . . .

I did some shooting a week ago for a London municipality, the "speaker" kept on waving the mic about. Levels go down . . levels go up . . levels go down . .. levels just . . .dissappear . . NO, there wasn't much option for radio mics or direct cabling .. . so not an option.

Anyways openned up SF - used the Bosst option in one of the levels and phhhoaarrrhh .. sound came back! I then resynched this into the orig clip in V5 and off I went .. . Not the correct Forum?

Nah this is the correct Forum!

V5 and SF? - Dynamic Duo!

Forge is AWESOME! We're teaching some Forge on the VASST tour, plus launching a Sound Forge 7 tour later this year...Can't live without it, that's for damn sure!

Spot, I thought it was good .. I saw Michael Bryant deoming it this year at Video Forum at Wembley . . he gave me more and more cofidence to experiment . . I did something in Noise Reduction too! That really WAS awesome! . .I even reduced some "background" road noise; boosted some quiet singing ona Cultural event; created graph/profile presets - as in Vegas presets - and reused them ..

Spot is there any way I can save my presets if I need too do a reformat? As you will appreciate, these presets are/can be very complex.

Grazie,
for the benefit of those who live in the colonies, what the hell is the "Bosst option"?
I mean I've used SF7 a bit but I haven't stumbled on that one!

Taking a punt that it's a typo for "Boost" ?

Cheers

That's even more confusing, boost what?
Man I can see why he didn't post that in the audio forum, Red would have been all over him :)

Even under "BOOST" in the "HELP" I cant find anything.

I have had similar sound problems with some of my movies, but I have found that I was able to change the volumes up and down with Vegas 5 quite well. So does Sound Forge really provide a great deal more in sound editing features than Vegas 5 itself? Would you use these features very often?

Think of SF as microsurgery for audio, I guess you could do most of it in Vegas but the SF interface is optimised for working with the finer points of audio, things like snap to zero crossing. Perhaps a better description might be that SF is like a constructor set, you can use it to break audio down into tiny bits and put them together to make new sounds.
Also a lot of the FXs that come with SF will work in Vegas but with a lot of them it's easier in SF.

Perhaps it's Process / Fade / Graphic? This is similar to an audio envelope in Vegas. The other possibility is Wave Hammer which is much more automatic.

I had to smile at the premise of this thread though. Far from discovering the benefits of Sound Forge to Vegas edting, i had been using Sound Forge 4.5 and 5.0 for 5 years before i even knew that SonicFoundry had any video editing tools! Then there was that fateful late night browsing session when i had the thought, "hmmmm, i wonder what will happen if i type in www.sonicfoundry.com ..." and the rest, as they say, was history.

Me BAD!

The "Boost" option was me taking a fly at what I remembered seeing . . now THAT is a big mistake - me remembering .. what I saw . . . . . I think .. . what was I saying then? . . . . . . Oh yes - BOOST! .. . I did a sound ;evel increase in one of the FXs and it really er .. sorry .. boosted my audio.. . Made the person speaking actually appear to speak now .. .Brought that "back" into V5 and voila! it was amazing . . .

... Sorry Guys . . must get my terms correct . .. Hey, well Kelly understands me ! Come to that so does Edward . . . ;-)

Grazie

Ah right,
you added a few FXs, ticked a few options in them and moved a couple of sliders around, good, now I understand I'll see if I can repo your results.
