Sound missing?

I have some films that I have changed from AVI to MPEG2. The films play great on my computer with good sound. The problem is when I go to burn them onto DVD I choose file / new then select single movie, the settings are disc format DVD / project video format is MPEG2 720x576-50i / project audio is AC-3 stereo then optimize disc to fit onto 4.7gb disc. I have done this before and had good results with picture & sound. Now good picture but no sound.

When you "changed" your video from AVI to MPEG2, what audio settings did you use for the MPEG?

Thanks for the quick reply Steve, I have no idea regarding the settings as all I do is use Formatfactory 1.80 and to use it I just click on the "change to MPEG" button then load the AVI file and click start.

I have done this before with other movies with no problem. It is only the last two days with Architect DVD that no sound comes through, when I load up the movie it goes onto the timeline but no audio is placed onto the timeline as well, only the picture?

I was exploring the possibility that the MPEG was using an unsupported audio codec -- though considering how versatile the software is and the fact that you've succeeded before, that's not likely.

Even stranger that the audio doesn't even show up on the timeline!

Is there even a remote possibility that your audio output settings from FormatFactory have changed?

I will check that out but I can play the MPEGS right after changing from AVI on my computer. I have just re-downloaded the movies as before as AVI and changing them via FF. I will then try to burn to DVD & let you know asap...

Thanks John, I have Formatfactory 1.8 to change from AVI to MPEG so I will change a film from MPEG2 to VOB and let you know later if DVD Arc can proceed.

No, don't convert the file, just change the extension from mpg to vob.

I had the same problem when inserting an mpg file rendered by another prog. It would play in my player with sound but no sound appeared on the timetine in DVDA. If I tried renaming the file ext to vob sometimes DVDA would crash when inserting the file and even if it got in successfuly it would be very slow to edit and would have random popping noises. So here is my workaround. Import the mpg file into vegas and render to ac3. put that in the same folder as the mpg you are having no sound from and then open that in DVDA. It then adds the audio stream to the timeline. When previewing the audio is in sync OK but I havent prepared it yet for burning.
