Sound Problem - Urgent

I am using Queen's song "Best Friend" from a CD for a music video. I ripped the song to a WAV file then use it in Movie Studio to go with video. I render the completed project to an AVI file (which plays perfectly on my PC with Windows Media Player) then I take the AVI file (and a few others) and author a DVD in Studio 8. I have ditched Studio for everything except the final DVD -- all my serious editing is done in Sony Movie Studio. This has been working just fine when all I ask Studio to do is the DVD menu. I insert just a few AVI files in the project (one for each menu selection).

Whether I output the final project to tape or to DVD, some of the vocals cannot be heard when I play it on a T.V. (even one with the sound run through our stereo). But the vocals are there -- both on the tape (it plays through my camcorder speaker) and on the DVD (it plays on any computer -- with all vocals intact). Any idea what is happening with the original music that it ultimately cannot be heard on a TV? I know Queen recorded music in many tracks but I would think that it all would get lumped together when rendered to an AVI file together with video and everything.

Any gurus out there with any suggestions for me? I'm desperate!!!

Thanks.

That is really weird.

Here is my theory.

The 70's was the time of Quadraphonic so a lot of music mixes then did funky things like putting all the vocals on one channel. Several Queen songs did although since I am not familar with "You're My Best Friend" so I can't say for certain that is the case here.

What I suspect is that that one of the channels is somehow muted/disconnected. Double-check the connections on the back of your TV/DVD Player/Stereo and make sure both left and right connectors are snug. It is possible a cable is bad too, so try switching left and right around and see if the sound changes.
