Sound Software For Vegas Movie Studio

Hello everyone

My Name is David,

I am fairly new to this forum. I have been using Sony Vegas Movie Studio for about a year and a half now. My skills are limited because I have been in school as well. I am ready to learn more now that I have graduated. My Video camera is a Sony DCR-SR42. Therefore I do not have a High Definition source to work with at this time. I say this to say that I am looking for tips to make the source that I am working with of better quality.

I am ready to buy software that will assist me in making my audio portion of my video sound better. Can anyone make a suggestion?
I have been looking at audio studio. What do you think?

VMS has some built-in effects, too. Just put in an audio track and click on the green Track FX in the track list.

If you want to go wacky, load up your audio software, and then go to Options>Preferences>Audio and browse for your preferred editor, so then you can just Right-Click on our audio & open a copy in your editor.

I'm sure SF Audio Studio is decent. I use Cool Edit Pro 2 for Vegas, and becuase I edit a radio program, too, so it's been my coice for a few years now.

Before I went with software I would make my original sound as good as I can get it. That means using an external mic (if your camcorder has an external mic jack) .. or using a "double sound" system .. recording the sound on a totally seperate digital recorder then usiing that file for the sound when editing.

Getting the mic as close to the subject(s) as possible will give you much better sound than any post processing with a sound editor.

But .. what type of processing did you have in mind?

VMS has 4 audio tracks available (8 in the Platinum version if you have a surround sound project), which can host VST and DIrectX effect/processing plugins, so it's actually a reasonable multi-track audio editor.....

As well as the built-in effect plugins, there are loads of free VST plugins around to do almost any processing you might need - what sort of thing do you want to do ?
