Soundforge CDA / WinXP problem ....

Hi guys, I've tried Mattlok's solution to this but CDA [4.0e build 220 I'm using] still only offers its virtual CD writer on load-up! I followed his advice to the letter!

Any other suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated, I'm starting to resent buying my new 1.8ghz Medion PC with XP on it! How can I get CDA to recognise my CyberDrv CW038D writer?

The last official version of CDA was 4.0g, available at http://www.sonicfoundry.com/download/step1.asp?CatID=2

You may want to give that a try and see if it helps.

I am not helping you, but, you should know that it happens with a lot of CDrecorders out there. I tried all of the possible solutions posted in this forum and others. None worked for my setup.
CD Architect version g, recorder Philips PCRW804, windows 2000.
Doesn't work.
I even changed the atapimmc.cdd and scsimmc.cdd files with an hexadecimal editor, but no... it doesn't work.
CDA recognizes the drive if i select SCSI device1 but it does not record.
Too bad for us. Maybe buying another drive, i really like the software.

I also followed Mattlock's instructions and CDA would still not recognize
my CDRW....so what I ended up doing was changing the compatibility of
FORGE32.EXE to run like it was under Windows 98/ME and after that it
let me detect it. If U haven't already, maybe U can try that?

How do you do that?

Ok, im not in front of my XP computer right now, but I'll do my best 2 describe it:

-Open Windows Explorer and go 2 the directory where Sound Forge 4.5 is installed
(c:\program files\sonic foundry\sound forge????)

-Find the file FORGE32.EXE and RIGHT CLICK on it

-Choose Properties

-Click the COMPATIBILITY tab

-It should have a box with the text "Run this program using:" Click that box and scroll down to the one that says "Windows 98/ME"

-click OK to save the settings

-Start up Sound Forge 4.5 and then CD Architect. It should ask you if you would like to enable ATAPI drives or something like that....just click yes...and then go 2 the ADVANCED window to detect ur ATAPI drive.

I don't know why, but this is the ONLY way I can detect my CDRW (by running the program under Win98/ME compatibility). But it works great...just like before.

hope that helps.
