I'm researching this card so I searched this forum for
feedback on it. Some of you seem to really like it for
it's built in DSP, nt/win2k drivers, features and ease of
use. That's great; this forum is a very valuable resource.
For those of you using it my question is this. Are you
using Soundscapes add-on A/D converters also, particuliarly
the non ADAT unit that sells for about the same price as
the mixtreme: the SS8IO-3, and if so how do you like the
sound of it? I'm a little concerned that the breakout box
has unbalanced rca jacks, but noticed that they're running
at +4db, I assume that the unbalanced output from a good
mic pre would work well into those ins on a short cord
terminated with an rca adaptor.
I'm strictly a hobbyist/part timer here, running Vegas on a
Micron 866 with NT 4.0 using a LynxOne as my front end.
The Lynx really sounds good, and has a great NT driver,
(the mixer is a bit cryptic though), but only has two
Analog ins, and no on board DSP. I want to up my ins, and
would love to add some compression and verb to the ins, but
won't do it if I have to sacrifice audio quality in any
significant way.
Thanks in advance
