Soundtracks

I bought Movie Studio HD Platinum version 10 July 7, 2010. It says on the box under Create a movie...use 360 exclusive royalty free soundtracks. Where are they? I just downloaded the update and haven't installed it yet. Are the free ACID downloads (2 I think) anything like the discontinued Cinescore?,..and can work with Movie Studio? I don't know if I would ad music often but I shot some video yesterday that needs to be edited a lot and music may improve the end result a lot. Thanks................John

I bought the 'production suite' version as a download, and I was able to download the +1GB zipfile with the 400+ soundtracks from www.sonycreativesoftware.com
If you can't find them on the dvd/cd, perphaps you will be able to download the soundtracks after you have registered your software.

I put the DVD in and explored what is on it. There is a music folder (over 900MB's) with lots of artists names...each having many scores. I don't remember but maybe when I bought it and did the install I didn't install everything? I also noticed that the update is about the same size as M.S. on the DVD..146MB's. I went to install the update but didn't because I got told by Sony that I would have to uninstall the earlier version. Is it OK for me to uninstall everything..hoping to not install M.S...and then install it with the downloaded update? Or does Sony not allow a 2nd install?

Extra media is never installed with the software. This lets you decide what you want to use and where you want to put it on your system. Chances are most people will want only a very tiny portion of the extras so it doesn't make sense to waste everyone's time and hard drive space.

Generally all version upgrades can be installed in parallel with older versions. You can have multiple versions installed and running simultaneously on the same computer.

I found that I could use all the music while editing my video with the DVD in the drive without putting any of it in my PC. The final video turned out wonderful considering the video I shot (at night) didn't turn out to good. Adding music salvaged the situation. Night Drive I titled it and it's on Youtube now.

@Ivan123 - How did you know where to go to download the soundtracks? Did your email purchase confirmation have the link? Or was it under the "My Software" tab on the support site?

Under CONTENT in the installation CD there is 1.1GB of music/samples. Not sure if this is what they are discussing. However, the fact that the BOX says 400 songs and they don't have any support documentation is ridiculous.

On top of that this question has been here for over 1 month with no Company Support to answer what should be a simple question. Disappointed in this portion but I do like the Platinum 10 Production Suite otherwise. Pretty fast and user friendly.

This is a *user* forum. If you want Sony to answer a question you have to ask Sony.

It was under 'My software' in the support website, available for download (3 downloads available).

Brightside - So if you ran a company and had a support forum you would just let your customers guess? This is a Sony website and there is no reason they can't provide an answer within this system since it exists. This is my point where they could be helpful they likely have tons of emails they have to answer the same question.

If i had to guess, i'd say probably somewhere under 1% of Sony Creative Software customers even know this forum exists, and probably only 1/4 of that number participate.

On the grand scale this forum is not a very effective communication tool for the masses of users.

I won't dispute that .. but for most of us here .. it *is* a very valuable resource. I've learned things here that have made me much more competent editor.

@brighterside - Just to let you know; I've decided to try use the user forum to get help on this issue of soundtracks as I have tried to contact SCS Customer Services directly by e-mail on the SCS site, but have heard nothing. I came to the Forums in desperation and see more activitiy here than from SCS Customer Services. I am hoping to (possibly) see some progress here...
