Source to learn all the Movie Studio Options

The Movie Studio program has tons of options - many are not described in the manual & with some the online help is not sufficient for me.

Could you point me to places on the web or in print where these commands would be described in more detail? I'm guessing that most of these are specific to the video editing profession & it might be assumed the user already knows what they are.

Examples would include Ripple Edits, Lock Envelopes to Events and so on.

Now I have more appreciation for the blank look I get when I ask my wife to pass me the #2 Phillips screwdriver.

Thanks,

I have the same problem - I am missing a tutorial similar to that of Adobe Photoshop, when a number of simple or more complicated projects are accomplished in the tutorial step-by-step...

At least, please someone recommend a good tutorial book for someone who is computer-literate, but lacks movie making background (I am afraid there are too many books "for idiots" which aim at being entertaining instead of informative).

I wholeheartedly agree. Even tips for beginners would be helpful.

For some basics on the product you can go here: http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/support/trainingvids.asp?prod=vegas5

... but I'm still hoping there is some place that would get into all the features of the product that sit there unused on my computer seeing as I don't have the foggiest idea what they mean.

Hi,

There is a book out, although it's based on an earlier version. A lot of the book is still pertinent. Check out this thread:

I've found that the manual that's included on the installation disc (or downloaded from the Sony website) is actually very helpful. While some parts of it are identical to the manual that comes packaged with the software, it's much, much more in depth. I went to the trouble to print out all 386(!) pages so I could have a hard copy to easily refer to and it was well worth the effort. I also own "Instant Vegas" by Douglas Spotted Eagle, and "Naked Vegas" by Doug Sahlin. Both are excellent books but I still find myself using them in conjunction with the manual. Hope that helps!

Try www.vasst.com (Douglas Spotted Eagle's site). They have a lot of Vegas resources. A lot are for the full version of Vegas, but you can use a lot of it for Vegas Movie Studio..

Good luck
