Space available on media??

In preferences under the burning tab there's a setting for "space availabe on media". The manual doesn't explain this setting at all. I thought all DVDs were 4.7 gig. And the reason I ask is I just tried to burn a DVD created in DVDA and got an "unknown error" with the detail
'SFMMCX'-(17)
'atapi'-(1)
-'PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-104 1.32'-(1)
Module mmc.cpp Line 861

I burned a different DVD before this one with DVDA and it worked fine. I noticed on this newer DVD that DVDA took it all the way to the limit of size on one 4.7 gig DVD (eventhough the space indicator in the lower right had said 95% full). I then tried to take the created files and just simply burn the DVD through NERO but NERO said that there wasn't enough room on the DVD.

I'm wondereing if the error in DVDA and the lack of space error from NERO re related and why would DVDA let this happen?

The error you are getting is because of a lack of space. So Nero is right. The files you have created (regardless of what DVD-A says) are larger than the disk capacity. Have you tried this since DVD-A 1.0a has been released? if not, download 1.0a and try the same files. Se if it gives you a new number.

I was getting the same error and lowered the bit rate a little to make a smaller file size and it worked fine.

That did it. Thanks!
I noticed that after installing the update I no longer just get an error message, I also get a 'not enough space on disk' message as well.
Still confused about the Media Size setting in perfs.
