Spaning multiple dvd's

OK so I know this is probably a stupid question butt... If I have a 8gig project, do i need to split it into 2 in VMSP8 render 2 files and then burn? Isnt it possible to burn 1 big file and the software will stop and finalize, then insert another disc to finish the project. Its been a long time since Ive had to do this. There is a way to "span" a big file over multiple discs right? Thanks in advance

you have to prep the mpeg's ahead of time. Only way to do it with DVDA.

I think the spanning you're referring to is built into different burning apps for convenience when burning data disks... For a video DVD you have to create 2 DVDs -- a nice touch is a final menu screen telling the viewer to put the next disc in their player.

OTOH you might find it easier to simply burn to a DL disc.. Even Verbatims [the almost universally recommended brand] are close to $1 each now on sale. If you get into the situation where you're just a little over, *might* want to look at Shrink or Recode.
