Sparkling Tooth - "ching"

jamcas wrote on 11/7/2003, 5:33 AM
Hi Again,

A quick one, I want to create a sparkling tooth on a photo of someone smiling.

You know like on a comedy show someone has a big cheesy smile and a flash/sparkle reflects off their tooth with a "ching" sound effect.

well i got the sound effect sorted and Ive tried using the lense flair FX but couldnt quite get the desired effect.

does anyone have any suggestions on how to achieve this ?

Thanks and Regards
JC

Create a PNG in PsP or PS. stick it on the top track . .you could use some very quick track motion to give zoom out and in . nice project . .have fun . .

. . .nearly forgot . . . graphic packages often have Star shapes that you can "distort to get them skinny and BIG or s m a l l - yeah? Also Track motion you can easily position the star in the area yer want to . .

The direct route though, is to use a symbol font in Vegas text editor. star or even just a dot. Leave it standing still, but apply some white light rays just nearly right behind it. And make THAT move a little.

I think there is an example of this on chienworks sharing site...I've seen it somewhere.

Grazie,

You can't make it play because you don't have Real Player, or because you are having a problem with my site?
Grazie wrote on 11/7/2003, 9:43 AM
Thanks JM -Got RP - can't say for your site?

It plays fine from my site. Do you have the link?

Actually, since I've had other people who had problems with Real Player, I am also going to upload a WMV version to Chienworks site (Vegas Video Examples) in a few minutes. I'll update this message in a moment with the direct link to the video.

Added later:

Here's the link to the video:

Chienworks,

I prefer your results to the one that I produced, I think the rotating of the sparkle is what does it.

Can I use your effect in my project ? (its just some birthday party pictures
for home family use.)

jamcas: please do! I'll warn you though, it's very difficult to keep the center of the sparkle in a fixed position on the screen since it rotates around the center of the frame, not the center of the sparkle. If i may suggest an alternative:

- use the .veg file i created but solo the "sparkle" track
- render the result to new DV .avi file
- use this DV file on a track above the video track in your project
- set the compositing mode to additive
- use track motion to position it wherever you want it

This way you'll be able to change the positioning wherever you wish without having to worry about the rotation problem.

Enjoy!

Chienworks,

Thanks ! and your not wrong about how hard it is to rotate it !!

see my post titled importing VEG files. After a frustrating time trying to rotate my own effect, i decide to copy yours and looked at importing the VEG file
but found when copying you cant copy the track motion.

Ive also tried to render your effect as an AVI with transparent background
(deleted the b/w pic you had) but it came out with a black background, ill try your 'additive suggestion above.

ill let you know how it turns out.

oh and THAKS ALOT !

Cheers
