There is nothing like that for Vegas, third party or not. Even third party plugins for effects are limited to what they can do compared to AE. If you need to do complex effects, and animations etc, then you need AE.

Thanks. I was afraid that might be the case.

AE is way beyond my budget for just trying to do some amateur movie making for family distribution.

I've bought some of the New Blue packages and have been happy with them for my family and youth sports type projects. Certainly not AE, but they still have some good effects at a reasonable price.

I have found the New Blue FX to be helpful. Also, as you become more familiar with them, and sony's fx, you will be able to create FX that are 'outside of the box.' As for AE, I have been using it for several years, and it has a learning curve that makes VMS look like nothing! :) Cin

I found an interesting and versatile 3-D plug-in called "BluffTitler" for $64. Looks like it might do the sort of thing I need. It certainly has a lot of neat effects.

Has anyone used this before with VMS?

I use Bluff Titler sparingly, it is mainly a 3D text titling program. It's biggest strength is the ability to move text in 3D, if that's what you're looking to do. Their effects can get really cheezy really quick.

Blufftitler is relatively simple to use. Another titling program is Heroglyph (from proDAD). More difficult to use, but a bit more powerful. Also, may be more expensive depending on which version you would be interested in.

Blender (http://www.blender.org/) looks scary until you get used to it, but you can actually do everything in Blender that you can in After Effects, and a whole lot more. And its free (you might want to invest $50 in Roger Wickes book, "Foundation Blender Compositing" to get started).

Thanks for the blender link. Wow. I watched the first 3 minutes of the blender energy drink tutorial and am stunned at the capabilities blender provides. I will have to give this application a go and learn more about it.
