Spectral Layers and other add ons

(NB I posted this on Magix support and was asked to post it here!)

I upgraded with Magix to Vegas Pro 18 in September 2020
I have been using Vegas 18 (now build 373) successfully, albeit with frequent crashes (fewer since I turned off graphics acceleration)

One attraction of upgrading from V17 to V18 was the inclusion of SpectraLayers to improve handling of audio files in video.

I downloaded SpectraLayers and my activation code.

I was unable to successfully install SpectraLayers. It installed up to a point and then I got a succession of error messages about some files it was trying to replace in my system. I have instead had to install a 'trial' version from Steinberg with a trial activation code and no apparent route to inputting my "Magix" code.

Nor have I been able to use Borisfxparticle or NewBlueElements 3 Overlay which seem to install but are then invisible on the system (although I inserted the activation code for NewBlue Elements).

Does anyone have any expertise on this? It does not seem possible to ask tech support at Magix - I just spent half an hour on the website being sent around in circles without being allowed to ask them a question. How can these adds on be activated and used?
Specific guidance would be very much appreciated.

My system (probably irrelevant) is a x64-based PC

Uninstall and reinstall SpectraLayers, which is activated through Steinberg... not Magix..
SpectraLayers Pro 7.0.20 is the latest build, assuming SPL Pro 7 is the version you have a serial number for,.

Re NewBlueElements 3 Overlay, the 6 plugins (Flying PIP, Image Mapper, Picture Grid, Picture-in-Picture, Picture-in-Shape and Split Screen) should all appear alphabetically in the VFX window along with all the other VFX - they do not install as a separate NewBlue folder.

Thnaks you both rraud and Dexcon. When I get a moment I will try uninstalling and reinstalling SpectraLayers and will report back. (Yes Pro7).
Re NewBlue: Dexcon is spot on. These are listed under "Third Party" effects in Video Events but not badged as NewBlue. I will do unarmed combat with them this week. Any clue about Borisfxparticle (in the unlikely case I ever work out why or when I might want to use these effects)?

Re the Boris Unit, if it follows the same approach as the Boris Continuum Complete (BCC) install, each Boris VFX in the Unit should appear in Vegas Pro's Video FX window preceded by the letters 'BCC' (e.g. BCC Particle Emitter 3D). Hopefully, somebody on the forum with the Boris Particle Unit installed could advise for certain about this.
