Speech to text in latest Vegas Pro 21 Release

Hello All,

After upgrading to the most recent release of Vegas Pro build 300. They changed the speech to text options. They are now listed as AI Speech to Text. it seems like I am unable to choose the section of the audio track I want to subtitle. When I click the AI speech to text it wants to do this for the entire track and populates all audio tracks.

I only want to subtitle certain parts of the track. Is there a way I can speech to text specific parts of one track?

Many others have noticed this, too.

Would subclips help? Otherwise return to 208 until it's restored.

I'm having the same issue here. Its analyzing the full video even I only have short clip on my timeline. And it will process it more than 1000% not sure when its going to stop. They also change the minimum character to 10 (for subtitle). Its kind of annoying they changed this and the previous version was better.

Yeah unfortunately build 300 different. I reverted back to version 208. I have the regular speech to text option back

Hi folks, I just wanted to add my frustration to this conversation in the hopes that Vegas get around to fixing it. I'm having similar issues in that I just want individual clips subtitled, not my entire hour-long video. I'm sure there's many others feeling the same.

I'm having another issue as well which is that, in this new version, the text isn't sync'd well with the dialgoue - it's several seconds late in most cases but not by a consistent amount. Frustrating.

Also please don't call it an "AI" feature, most of us find that cringe.

The SpeechToText tool in HappyOtterScripts, which makes use of Whisper AI, offers a lot of flexibility. Plus, it's quite a bit faster, especially for those with an Nvidia GPU. Here's the dialog.

It is an "AI" feature incorporating machine learning and a Universal Language Model. Read more about Microsoft AI services here.

As far as the feature goes, go back to 208 or wait for updates if you want to only use it on selected clips. (I went back to 208).
