Speed challenge - Rendering Chroma Key

I'm wondering how long it takes you guys to render 30 seconds of chroma key...

- with the chroma blur applied first in the effects chain...
- then the chroma key effect.

I'm sure it is processor and system dependant... but I wonder about the speed gained for various processors, processor speeds, & system configurations.

We are shooting talking heads with no other props. It takes hours to render about 12 minutes of content.

We have this on the tracks... top down...
1 - Media Generated Text (with Track Motion 2D Glow)
2 - Media Generated Text (with Track Motion 2D Glow)
3 - Video shot with green screen background
4 - Jpeg image background

We are running on a 2.01 Ghz PC with a meg of Ram. Windows XP.

I know faster is better... just trying to get some actual data about how much faster for specefic processors/configurations so we can make our next buy decision with some idea of what we will get.

Thanks for any help.

there's an "official" render test file that's used for system comparisons. do a search for "Rendertest" & it will come up.

With that slow a machine, I'm not surprised it takes hours to render 12 min. worth :-(
Two years ago, I did a 15 min. project that used a LOT of chroma key and other assorted FX.
My work machine (P4, 3.4GHz hyper-threaded) took 3 hr. to render.
When I got my new quad core, I loaded the project up and did the render in 27 minutes!!
Click on my name to see my system specs.
IMO, it was money VERY well spent :-)
