Speed Changes

I'm trying to go from normal speed, to slower, to even slower, then progresivly back up to normal speed. Is there a canned way of getting this done. When I tried this last time it did not look good. Do I need to render first?This is an important aspect of the content that I edit; and my sorta first project in SB.

I was looking for something like this the other day for a driving scene. I wanted a smooth progressive acceleration and deceleration of the video but couldn't find any way to do it. The only thing I could think to do was to break the video into segments and step each one up gradually.

That's how I do it right now also.
