Split large audio file into smaller ones

How can I set markers in an audio file and have it export each marked section as a separate audio file? I have movie studio platinum 12

There is no automatic way to set a file to batch output several short segments. You'll need to place your media file on your timeline, trim it as needed (or set a Loop Area) and do a separate Render As for each segment.

This is easily done with a script in Vegas Pro.
It's not that hard to select a region, render, select the next, etc. in Movie Studio.
