Split Screen

I see the drop down for "Split-Screen View" but is there a way to create a split screen video? I have two camera angles and I would like to split the screen and put the video from Camera #1 on the left & Camera #2 on the right. I click on "select left half" and I get half my Camera #1 video on the right but a blackout on left. So I click "select right half" and all it does is the reverse (the left half of the same video on the left and blackout on the right). There must be a way to create a split screen or am I having a flashback to the '70s?
Please help if anyone has an answer. Thanks.

What you are clicking on is to show fx on half of your video, all of your video or none of your video.

What you want to use is pan/crop (when you add an event to the timeline it is the icon that is overlayed on the event/clip to the far right that looks like a square)

Add one event to one track and add another to the other then use pan/crop on both to get them where you want them.

Pretty muchlike jrazz says with one more detail, stack each track, one above the other.
Pan & Crop the bottom track and place image on the half you'd like,
Pan & Crop the top track place image where you'd like and add "Cookie Cutter" FX to this track and choose the square shape, make it big and drag it until the split is where you want it. This makes it a little faster to accomplish, plus you can size the image the way you'd like a little easier.

I am so blown away by the knowledge on this forum and I thank you both. I now have the power to do my split screen video. Many, many thanks.
