Split screen

MemoriesFX wrote on 7/26/2009, 10:01 PM
I am trying to create a split screen effect with 3 videos or images showing at the same time but I cannot seem to figure out how to scale or fit each video into the frame, The video in the top track seems to disappear when I move it too much to either side. How can the whole video on one track be reduced to a smaller window and moved around so it plays along side another video on the track below? Thanks for helping out.

Use the track motion icon on the video track control's, screenshots in a similar tutorial I wrote about splitting screens: http://eugenia.gnomefiles.org/2009/07/22/tutorial-stereoscopic-3d-with-sony-vegas/

Thanks once again Eugenia for taking the time to post another great tutorial. Someday, in my 'spare time' I would like to play with that. Take care. Cin

Thanks Eugenia. I will try and follow this and apply it to the split screen even though your tutorial is for creating 3D. I will let you know how it goes.

From what I can see is that when you use track motion to resize and combine to videos it applies the change to the whole track not just to the event. So that means you need to keep adding tracks for each time you want a different split screen or video in video?

You can use keyframes in track motion to change the settings from one point to the next on the timeline. You can have as many different sets of arrangements as you want.

Yes it takes a full track.

Try to click Event Pan/Crop in the media in the upper track.
Then place the cursor in the Event Pan/Crop pop up window and scrool down until the picture becomes small enough and then draw one of its corners outwards until you see it as a small picture over the media below.
Now you can move that little picture as you wish.

The effect can be repeated on more tracks.

Is there a tutorial on how to set key frames in track motion that you can direct me to?

Normally I get the best ideas from the "Full Vegas" manual as many things work the same way in Full and in Studio. You can download it from:
