It looked so easy but I couldn't do it.
When I dragged the two videos on top of each other I couldn't figure out how to select them individually to set the track motion so I couldn't get two screens. So I couldn't line up the two videos.
I just got this program today so I am just learning it. It's a lot harder to figure out then windows movie maker which is te only other video editing software I have used.
I hop you can help me with this.
Mike
Thank you for your help. Unfortunately I still can't get the split screens. I do everything it says, but not working. I know I am doing something wrong.
Here is a brief note to what I am wanting to do. I fly RC airplanes and have been flying with a video camera on the plane to record my flights. I now have two cameras in a frame for the 3d affect. I have tested frames from both cameras to view the 3d affect and it works great. I really want to learn how to get the split screen so I can upload to youtube. I can't find any other tutorials on split screen.
First of all my videos are 480x360 from a small aerocam video camera
I want the two videos to have a small space between them
I changed the X values to -250 and 250 and it works.
I finally got it to work but I did something that caused two rectangle white dashed lines on my preview. How can I get rid of that?
How do I gt a white background?
You can go here to see a sample of the still 3d photos I did.
The dashed lines are showing the safe areas. There's a button just above the preview window that lets you choose different grids to overlay. Click that to turn off the lines.
One simple way to get a white background is to insert a solid white generated media event on a track below the others and stretch it out the full length of the video. Wherever the other tracks are not, you'll see this white background behind them.
A clapper board is that black & white striped device used in movies just before the action starts. Typically it will have a clock sync'd to the camera's timecode and a space to write in scene & take information. There's a hinged section on top that can be slammed down. This gives both an audible and a visual cue that lets the editors line up the audio and picture later on.
I shot a new 3d video and clapped at te start to have a starting point for both videos.
My screen is all set up and found the beginning of my clap and clicked on solo on the top track and clicked split at the beginning of the clap and deleted the part before the clap. I slide he movie over to the beginning and play. Looks good.
Now I haave to do the same thing to the other video but I can't find the sound track to find my clapping to mark the beginning of that video so I don't know where to split that one so my videos match. I only here the first sound track which now is starting at the beginning of the clap.
What am I dong wrong?
Mike
Well, either you forgot to record the sound, or that camera uses an audio format that Vegas can't read, or that you imported in the timeline that file in a way that didn't also import the audio. We can't know without sitting next to you in your computer and walk you through.
Where are you based? If you are in the Bay Area, we can meet up and show you how to do all that.
I use two cameras which are the same. I ended up having to take both videos into windows movie maker and do all my editing and splits and fades and set them both to the same timeline with the help of me clapping at the beginning of the shoot. After I finished and they both were exactly the same length I was sure I had it right.
I took it into vegas and added music. Then I clicked on make movie and waited 45 minutes for it to do it's thing. The movie is over 100 megs, 2 minutes and 25 seconds. It turned out great. The 3D is incredible. I can view it without glasses and see it right off. I will be uploading it to youtube maybe tonight. I only have 200 megs alotted to me from Hughs Net per 24 hours so I have to be careful not to run out cause then I get cut off completely for 24 hours, then I get another 24 hours. I hate Hughs Net but thats all that I can get out here.
I want to learn how to use vegas so I have more options.
Unfortunately I live in Brooksville, Florida. Thank you so much for the invite. Wish I could. really want to thank you for all the time you have given me.
Hi Eugenia - I am trying to put two videos running side by side ( two video cameras on my rc plane, one facing forward and one facing back), I have them both on my screen side by side and it looks good but when I "make movie" the results are two videos side by side but narrow and tall, not at all like the preview. As it is saving, it looks ok.
