Split screen Half Rolling Credits-Half Video

Hi,
I have Vegas Pro 8 & DVD Architect. I would like to make a split screen with one half being rolling text and the other showing a video clip. The following is an example of what I want to do;
On the left side of the screen I would like to show a persons name rolling from the top to the bottom slowly and at the same time a short video clip on the right side of that person. Once the text is rolled off the screen I would like to repeat the same process with a different name and video clip of that person.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks, Ray

This should get you started. Put the video clips on one track, and the scrolls on another. Use track motion to adjust the two tracks to fit on half-and-half. You may need to, also using track motion, make the clip and scrolls smaller to fit them all on the screen, if you don't, half of each will be off the screen. I tried it and it looked fine to me if I'm just running credits along with a matching clip.
Experiment with it 'till you hit the look you want.

If you're using the Credit Roll media generator, note that you can change the position of the credit roll within the Credit Roll dialog. That way, you change the width of your credits without changing the height. If you use track motion and change the width but not the height, you will distort the text to some degree.

Whether or not you use track motion on the video track will depend on the composition of the video and how much of it you want to show. If you want to show the entire frame, use track motion. If the content you want to show is in an isolated area on the opposite side of where your credits will be, I'd suggest using a cookie cutter FX or preferably a mask.
