Split screen into two ??

I'd like to have the left side of the screen black with white text. Id like the text to display SIDEWAYS (vertically). The right side to display a movie/still photos.

Can't figure out how to do this. I've tried the backdrop "text credit roll" however, I can't seem to position the black backround properly. If seen it done, but need help in doing this. Anyone out there know how?

thanks.

I've done exactly that on one occasion. You do both as a video, but put one on a different line above the other. Then display both as a picture-in-picture, each being on it's own side of the screen.

Here is a thought:
Produce both the still and the graphic in say, Adobe Photoshop Elements.
Move the stil to the right side and save it as .jpg. Produce the graphic on a transparent background. On the left side of the frame draw a black area for the white lettering and save it as .tif or .giff.
In vms add the still on a lower track and add the graphic on a track above the still. The graphic will show beside the still in playback.
You could use the same graphic proceedure for a movie but the graphic would cover the left side of the moving frame or you might be able to use the Crop and Pan feature to show just what you wanted on the right side of the frame.
Just a thought.

make text then turn sideways in pan and crop (rotate) then slide half off screen. Next line pan crop picture to display on right side. I just did this
it's very easy. Save as a preset so you can change easy.
