Spliting

I am working on a project in Vegas5, I have unlock the tracks so I can split just the video and trim it. that work fine but now I am haveing a problem down the time line locking the tracks to trim both video and audio. I can't lock them, what is the solution......HELP

If you can't lock them at the same time, they're likely ungrouped. Just select both audio and video, hit G. They'll also individually lock.
