Splitting

Hi Guys,

I'm back in Vegas 4.

When I hit 'S' to split a track, sometimes it splits both Audio and Video, and sometimes just Video.

Similarly when double clicking sections to delete, sometimes both the Audio and Video get deleted, others just the Video.

What gives?

I'm not changing any settings to make it work differently.

Cheers,

Andy

If the audio and video are not grouped, when you hit the s key it will only split one or the other, if they are grouped it will split both of them. Also, if you want them both to split, make sure you have the "ignore event grouping" button deselected or it will only split either the audio or video (whichever you clicked on). About the deletion...if you want both the audio and video deleted at the same time, I think you have to select them both by control clicking and highliting them both, otherwise it will delete only the portion you clicked on.

The split function will split whichever tracks are selected, or all tracks if none are selected. Click on the video event to position the cursor and split will only split the video event. Click on an empty area of the timeline to position the cursor and all tracks will be split.

Jimingo,

When you capture DV, are the video and Audio automatically grouped?
