Splitting Left and right audio

How can I split the left and right channels of a clip? many times I need to treat each channel as a separate audio track. If instance, if I record a shotgun on one channel and a laviliere on the other. Right now I go into sound forge and copy and paste each side to a new file(s) then import them into Vegas and re-sync. there's got to be a better way!

That's the only way I know of. I suppose you could do it with bussing, but it's probably easier to use Sound Forge.

There is a better way. Make two copies of the event on the timeline. Right click on the event and choose Channels > Left Only on one, and Channels > Right Only on the other. Job done.
