Splitting vs. Trimming an Event?

I've been wondering, is there any advantages/disadvantages to splitting and deleting an event on the timeline vs. just trimming it?

I tend to trim clips to the right length on the timeline rather than splitting. I use splitting when I need to create multiple clips and remove/rearrange sections from the clip.

Thanks.

The advantage of trimming is that it's a one-step operation. The disadvantage is that you lose the rest of the event. (Well, not really, it's still there if you pull the end back out, but you don't have another event left on the timeline with the rest of the clip.)

The advantage of splitting is that the rest of the clip is still left on the timeline as another event. The disadvantage is that if you don't want the rest of the clip then it's another step to delete it.

In other words, it looks like you're already using the two methods to their best advantage.
