SPREPARE.SPSS files?

I'm used to preparing and burning separately with DVDA. Now, as I prepare the DVD, at the end of the process, I find in the main folder, along with the subfolders AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS, a strange file named SPREPARE.SPSS. What's that? Do I need to delete these files manually before burning the DVD? Why doesn't DVDA delete them automatically? (please note that I am not selecting the secong button <burn> and then choosing on that screen, prepare and then burn).
Thanks in advance

If you're using DVDA-3, this almost certainly a file generated for use in subsequent preparations of your project, should you modify and prepare it again. Looks a lot like "Smart Prepare" to me...

cbrillow is 100% correct. That file is for DVDA3's new Smart Prepare feature, which lets you make changes to a previously prepared project without DVDA having to re-prepare everything next time you want to burn it.

So, no, DVDA should not delete it automatically -- that would render the feature useless. ;-)

You can delete them if you wish (and if you have no use for the Smart Prepare feature), but leaving them there doesn't harm anything. Far as I know, DVDA doesn't burn them onto the disc.

I use nero to burn my disks and up until reading this post, I've always added the SPREPARE.SPSS file into my nero compilation. I hope this doesn't effect playback on those disks that I burned.

Depends on the player, but most will just ignore anything that's not a standard DVD file. Lots of people put misc extra files on their DVDs without issue.

I had to add subtitles in English to a series of clips in Brazilian Portuguese. Therefore I used DVDA to have the job done. After setting the subs for each clip, I created a series of folders for each project and prepared each clip with DVDA (that means, DVDA rendered a new VOB file), saving the result in those foders. As I checked each folder, they had the regular subfolders AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS + the so-called SPREPARE.SPSS. Then I used DVD Shrink to re-author the DVD as a DVD movie (I am excentric ;), selecting one clip after the other one and finally burned the final project with DVDA. Surprise: there were no SPREPARE.SPSS files on the final result, even though I had re-authored with DVD Shrink a series of DVDA previously prepared projects.
I guess simply preparing and burning with DVDA would have exactly the same result - no SPREPARE.SPSS files on the disc. So, don't worry jimingo. Your DVDs are OK.
