SSL buys EDL Convert

I received an email from Solid State Logic today informing me that they had bought Cui Bonosoft's EDL Convert software and had upgraded it to include Vegas 8, which was definitely not working with EDL Convert.

In addition they've added ProTools 7.4 and Final Cut Pro amongst others.

The downside is that the cost had more than doubled and the uprade costs about the same as the original purchase price of EDL Convert.

In my case however this upgrade has come at a point when I need the ability to convert to the new formats available from the new version so I'm paying the money for the upgrade.

You can check out the new version at www.solid-state-logic.com (sorry can't remember the way to embedded hyperlinks).

The new version comes boxed with a hardware dongle.
The upgrade price in US dollars on the email was $249.00 but the online shop's price was $299.00. I questioned this in the purchase and will wait to hear about their email typo undoubtedly.

I have not tried Cui Bonosoft's EDL with V8.. since I went to Sonar for audio post. I always get OMFs from clients and used the XML script to import via EDL.
I'm curious if that also no longer functions. What format do you use to import? Vegas project file, Text file or the fore mentioned XML script.?

I wonder if out friends in Madison will ever see the light and support pro-audio formats for us unimportant audio stepsons and daughters.

I use XML to import into Vegas. It offers much better results than a Veagas text file.

I received a reply from SSL today, sent out to all registered users of the old EDL Convert I suspect.

It corrects the price of their upgrade to the price on the website. indicating the email was incorrect.

Here's the body of the email

"It has been brought to our attention that we made a mistake in our email, distributed Mon 3rd March 2008.

In the email we stated a US Dollar upgrade price for Pro-Convert of $249 + Local Tax. This was incorrect, the Upgrade Price as published on our web site of $299 + Local Tax is correct.

We apologise for this error and any inconvenience it may have caused.

Best Regards

Your SSL Team.
Email: pcupgrade@solidstatelogic.com"

So my upgrade cost $299.00, including freight to Australia from the UK.
